Of course, while “Dude, cool blog!” from someone who can convince me they read my blog is nice, I’d prefer something more (for example: something I could actually create a blog posting out of responding to.)
Okay, I guess if I want people to comment on my blog, I better produce some content, right?
For some reason, what I ate during my week off was of great interest to some of my co-workers. I don’t know, eating pizza from the local pizzeria, Lunchables snack packs, bagels and cream cheese and some unhealthy junkfood thrown in, doesn’t seem all that interesting to me.
Of course, the fact that my big excitement of the week was finally signing up for WWE 24/7. (And yes, I fully understand that, to many, what I watched on the channel is probably about as interesting as what I ate!) I spent the majority of my week off revisiting ECW, AWA, NWA and WCW, not to mention WWE cards from 1984 thru the late 80s, mid-90s and even the 2010 Elimination Chamber. I got to see the NWA gear up for the 1987 Great American Bash, ECW just after its first pay-per-view “Barely Legal”, and best of all, got to watch Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby “the Brain” Heenan host an edition of Prime Time Wrestling from 1988.
Monsoon: You’d sell your own mother, wouldn’t you?
Heenan: I’ll throw in an uncle.
(Probably doesn’t translate well to the printed word.)
As we gear up towards my 25th Anniversary of Wrestling, I may start to do recaps of the various shows on my other blog (which I also need to get updating more) which is available at: http://25yearsofwrestling.blogspot.com/
And while I probably spent way too much time in front of the TV (or the laptop), I did tear myself away to do some reading, polishing off Battlestar Galactica by Jeffrey A. Carver in approximately 24 hours. I was channelling my inner Kelly there, although it didn’t hurt that I was a huge fan of the original series. Reading the novel kinda makes me want to check out this re-envisioning of BSG. (Yeah, I know, great timing since the series is over.)
On Sunday morning, I went up to the local variety store to get a couple of provisions and realized it was too nice a day to spend it all inside. (It would rain later, but it was sunny and rather muggy in the morning.) So I went hope, dropped off the groceries, grabbed my camera and took a couple of photos down by the river and will post one of my favourites here.
One thing that sucked is that on Sunday, my trusty IPod gave up the ghost. Luckily, I had a gift card from Best Buy, so I picked up a new MP3 Player today. I’ll be using it mostly for music, but it has has the ability to store and display photos, video and even text, so that’s pretty cool.
Okay, for those bored with reading about WWE 24/7, my week off or my new MP3 player, here’s a link that will help spice things up...Not sure how many of you have heard, but there’s rumours of an Eva Mendes sex tape making the rounds on the Net.
Well, apparently Ms. Mendes, rather than denying it or being embarrassed by the existence of said tape, actually filmed a video introducing the sex tape. Now, normally, I’m not the type of guy who will post links about sex tapes, but I just respect Eva for being so brave as to introduce her own sex tape that I have to post this...http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/0a4d42beff/eva-mendes-sex-tape
Mendes is in the new comedy, The Other Guys, which I hope to check out this weekend. There’s been talk of going to see The Expendables as part of a “Guys Night Out”. If that doesn’t happen, I may make it a Double Feature on Saturday or Sunday. I also want to see “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” making that three movies coming out that I’d like to see. And considering there was a pretty long drought of good movies I’d really want to see, it’s nice to see an upswing in interesting movies.
