Okay, so I promised to update my blog this weekend and rather than just try and post one long blog about one particular topic (and my inability to do so as of late is the main reason why I haven't blogged in over a month), I figure I'll do a "Random Thoughts" blog about whatever pops into my mind over the weekend.
And rather than wait until Sunday night, I figure I'll update over the course of the weekend. A
So...without further adieu...adieau...So, let's start blogging, and what better way to kill the buzz than by discussing wrestling. I'm watching WWE Smackdown and, since every established star that even hints of being over, save Rey Mysterio and C.M. Punk is over on Raw, why try and push new stars (and yes, I know they've got Jack Swagger, but having Big Show humiliate him and jobbing him out to Rey in a non-title match does not a push make), let's show every single solitary second of the NXT Rookies kicking the crap out of John Cena, the Straight Edge Society and the ringside officials.
Okay, considering I thought NXT was just a really convaluted way of getting Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson over. I could never figure out the former ROH star being one of the first guys eliminated only to return to engage in a thrilling feud with...commentator Michael Cole? And now he's become the Mike Sanders of the 2010 Version of the Natural Born Thrillers. (And to illustrate just how forgettable that particular stable was, I had to search Wikipedia to get the right information to make that reference.)
Don't make me post a blog where I fantasy-book how I would have introduced Bryan. (Tell you what give me at least at least three comments on either my Vox or Blogger blog this weekend and I'll spare you the agony.)
Okay, on to other topics...
My folks were watching one of those PBS Pledge Drives shows where they were featuring groups from the late-50s, early 60s (Lou Christie's Lightning Strikes was one I remember seeing) and it occurs to me that my generation and the one that has come since won't really have that. I mean, I think in 2025, there will probably be 80s bands getting dragged out on stage to perform. I could foresee the Go-Gos, Duran Duran and A-Ha reuniting to play a PBS Pledge Drive or showing up at 80s Reunion concerts. (Speaking of which, I want to read Belinda Carlisle's book.)
However, do you really see a "All 90s Flashback Concert Series" featuring the surviving members of Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Korn coming out in their late-50s. I could however see some of the post-bubblegum pop one-hit wonders that showed up in the mid-90s do that.
CHECK BACK LATER THIS WEEKEND FOR MORE!
