A Returning Hodgepodge Blog

Wow! Okay, it's been eleven days since my last blog posting. I would hope I have been missed and that many of you are weeping with pleasure upon my return.

Okay, weeping is probably pushing things, but I would hope that, upon seeing a new blog from yours truly, at least one or two of you might do a fist-pump and think "All right, Milner's back on blog duty!"

As for the reason for my "disappearance", well, I was stuck in Europe for several days due to that volcano...

Don't buy that?

I won $350 million in the U.S. Powerball lottery and was too busy buying DVDs to update?

No?

Vince McMahon called me about my resume and...

Okay, I think I've run out of humourous excuses and so the real excuse is that, despite having a few things I could have written about, I think I went through a bit of "Blog Burnout"!

Believe it or not, my social life got more exciting last weekend (not this one past, the one previous) when I travelled to Aylmer to the Brindley Household to celebrate the birthdays of Jodi Brindley, my college friend Chris Taylor and a friend of his (whose name I do not recall, save they nicknamed him Bulldog). It was a really fun afternoon highlighted by catching up a bit with Chris, reminiscing about our days in college, and a great BBQ hosted by Jim.

Save for that, there hasn't been too much to talk about. Basically, it's go to work and hang out around the house. And do you really think I can make that interesting day after day?

And so, without further adieu, I present a Hodgepodge Blog Entry...

I'm not sure how (perhaps it was Kelly's reference of the new A Nightmare on Elm Street - starring the guy who played Kelly in the 70s version of the Bad New Bears Movies...and was the voice of the younger son in Wait Til Your Father Gets Home) but somehow I decided to list all the horror movies I've seen.

Hmmm...I've seen...

A Nightmare On Elm Street: A New Nightmare
Copycat
Silence of the Lambs
Evil Dead
Army of Darkness
Dawn of the Dead (Original and Remake)
The Reaping
Poltergeist
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
Zombieland
Jennifer's Body
The Craft
Cloverfield
Godzilla
Scream
Scream III
Heathers
Serial Mom

Okay, that's just off the top of my head. There may be more. Still, not bad for a guy who doesn't like watching horror movies. (I always feel for the victims' families.)

And for a guy who doesn't claim to know much about hockey (save for covering the Bulldogs and Lancers a couple of years ago and watching the Olympics), I'm not doing too bad in our office Stanley Cup pool. With four of the eight 1st round series complete, I am 3-1. Of course, that's only good enough for a six-way tie for first (of eight competitors). Still, I could have gone 0-4 and be dead last.

And, of course, what's a Milner Blog without a little wrestling (wait, there's non-wrestling stuff coming up later)...According to Pwinsider.com, the second issue of the new WWE comic features a terrorist group taking over WrestleMania, and both HHH and Chris Jericho being murdered.

And may I just say...

?????

Terrorists? Murder? Why not just have a storyline where Chris Benoit comes back from the dead to reveal he masterminded 9/11? Jeez, why not call that @ssh0le Phil Mushnick and give him a copy of the book? Man, it'll be his wet dream and for once, how do you argue that he's NOT making a mountain out of a molehill?

Yes, I understand that this is a comic the WWE has made little or no mention of on TV. I understand that McMahon is all about promoting "entertainment" and not wrestling. (Apparently TNA is to be mocked by Vince for doing that very thing.) I understand that other forms of entertainment have included terrorism and murder in their storylines.

But it's not like Maggie Gyllenhaal was really killed in the Dark Knight. It was her playing a fictional character...which technically, one could argue, Chris Irvine and Paul Levesque are doing the same thing, but it's different somehow. (Don't ask me how...just different.)

Okay, speaking of conversations with Kelly (what would I do without her?) we were discussing what fictional place we'd like to live or work?

Not sure where I'd want to live but my list of possible workplaces would include Dunder Mifflin, Corner Gas, WKRP and, as a last result, the Quik-Stop.

And so, I'll toss the question out to all...uhm...well, how many of you that read this blog. If you could work in any fictional workplace (from TV, movies, books, heck, even songs or video games, if such a reference exists), where would it be?
