And so, it's back to work tomorrow after a pretty eventful three-day weekend.
On Saturday, my Dad went up to Whitby and back. We were supposed to stay overnight but Cathy and Jack weren't feeling well, and so we decided to head home Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday, Dad and I went out to do some shopping for the house which included a trip to Metro for groceries, Home Depot for supplies and Forest City Surplus just to look around. (I may go back tomorrow night to pick up a pair of boots and a coat.)
By the time we got home, the Daytona 500 was on lap 12, so we settled in to watch...what ended up being six hours between the first green flag and the final checkered flag. (That included two stops of about two hours in total to repair the race track.)
By the last few laps, most of our favourites were out of the running. And that includes guys like Mark Martin, Michael Waltrip, Bill Elliot, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
But wait a second, who's that coming out of nowhere on the last lap but Jr. himself. In the end, Jr. just ran out of time to try and pass eventual 500 winner Jamie McMurray, but it certainly made for a hell of an exciting ending.
And there was a good story for McMurray who ended last season getting cut from his former team to come back and win the biggest race of this 2010 season.
So congrats to Jamie McMurray and congratulations to Canada's first gold medal winner of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Alexandre Bilodeau who took the gold in the Moguls competition.
Now all I have to do is find out what Moguls is and I'll really be excited.
On Sunday, Dad and I went into Walmart and I picked up Season 1 of 30 Rock, and so today, in between working on my manuscript for History In Your Back Yard, I watched the first two discs.
Let me tell you, I wish I could meet a woman like Liz Lemon. (Let me rephrase that, I wish I could meet a woman like Liz Lemon and actually have a shot at dating her.)
There's an essay in there for another time.
Meanwhile, it's time to tune in Raw to see what Jerry Springer will do as guest host of the show.
Yeah, I'm watching Jerry Springer host a wrasslin' show, a little more than 24 hours from watching NASCAR. It's a big night in the trailer park.
Speaking of wrestling, I started my 25th Anniversary of Wrestling blog, although there's not a lot to it, but check it out at http://25yearsofwrestling.blogspot.com/ I promise there will be a lot more in the coming weeks and months.
