Top of the Decade

As the last week of the year plays itself out, it's time for everyone to start posting their "Best of" lists. With this being the final year of the first decade of this new century/millenium (I'll refer to it as such because there's no easy way to i.d. it otherwise, like the 80s or 90s), it's even more imperative to do some kind of "Best of the Decade" list.

As I'll get into later, this wasn't an easy decade for me to create any kind of "Best of" list. I wasn't out buying albums so there's not much of an opportunity to do a "Best of Albums". I picked up Avril Lavigne, Coldplay, Springsteen, the Killers and a mess of soundtracks, but the rest of what eventually made its way into my IPod were just singles picked up here and there of stuff I heard on the radio or in movie trailers.

There were times when my movie-going habits were strong, such as when I was working at Your Village News or when I was dating Angela, but before, in between and after, it fell right off. I guess that has a lot to do with (a) I was living in Glencoe, an hour away from the closest theatre and (b) quite often I come out of the theatre with a migraine.

Still, I managed to come up with several "Best of" lists for your perusal, discussion, response.

There may be more coming, but I'll leave you with those for now. Feel free to post your own lists, take me to task on my picks, suggest other lists...just friggin' comment already!
